Today I was getting ready for school, wearing bleach stained sweats, a large used sweater, and unbrushed hair thrown up in a ponytail. I adjusted my beanie so my gauges would show and thought, “You care too much about the way you look!”

That was an actual thought process I had because I wanted my earrings to show!!!! I looked like a troll and actually believed I was still putting in too much effort. How ugly, ungroomed, or sloppy am I going to have to look before I truly believe I don’t care too much? I am weird, and not in a good way! Damn Sam

Today I was informed that a girl in my dorm complained to the head Residential Advisor of my school that I was brushing my teeth topless in the bathroom. I am truly appalled by this news. Someone was so offended with my nude body that they felt it was necessary to take actions so it will not happen again. Next time I am found topless around my OWN ROOM I will get in trouble with the school. It saddens me to think that I cannot make the choice to be dressed or not around my living space. It also is disheartening to know that people find a naked body offensive and wrong. I am not unclothed to show off my body. I am merely comfortable in my skin and do not view my body in a sexualized, inappropriate manner. My plan is to stay naked around my dorm in protest to this. I hope that maybe my confidence and self acceptance will spread to others on my dorm. If I get reprimanded by my college, then so be it. As my senior quote stated, “it’s my hot body and I do what I want” (Eric Cartman). I plan to stay by this motto.

You go girl! the human body is beautiful and no one should be shamed for it.
